5. Romania – Onion Leaf Reading
Peeling and slating onions is one of the lesser known traditions in Romania. Locals will take the leaves of an onion, salt them, then read them to predict the weather for the following year. This likely hearkens back to a farming tradition as the weather was key to survival of crops and families, but it is still practiced today.
