26. Goblin Shark

National Geographic Kids

Whoever named the goblin shark hit the nail right on the head. This deep sea creature is a rare species of shark that will now haunt your mind for years to come. This shark is exactly why we’re not meant to live at deep sea levels. An interesting fact about this species is its lineage can be traced back more than 125 million years–it’s basically a living fossil. The bizarre protruding jaw is lined with needle-like teeth that appear not to fit in the mouth. What a strange looking creature.
