7. Achaemenid Empire
Cyrus the Great founded the Achaemenid Empire, also known as the First Persian Empire that lasted from 550-330 BC. The Empire was one of the largest known to history and at its peak it included 5.5 million square kilometers of land ranging from the Balkans to the Indus Valley. At one point under Cyrus’ rule the Empire had Egypt and Central Asia. The Empire was named after king Achaemenes and the goal of the empire was to unify all tribes and nationalities along its territories, and as we all know that doesn’t always go so well.
