3. Yuan Dynasty

Leader of the Mongolian Borjigin clan, Kublai Khan, established the Yuan Dynasty. The complete conquest of North China wasn’t completed until 1279, when the Empire ruled over all of modern China and Mongolia. This Empire was the first foreign empire to rule over China and it lasted until 1368 when some of the rulers retreated to their homeland Mongolia. Although Kublai Khan founded the Empire he attributed it to his late grandfather, the infamous Genghis Khan. During the fall of the Yuan Dynasty the people were hit by grave famine, which created bitterness and resentment, diminishing influence over China.
