The Roman Empire is one of the most influential empires of all time. It was around for over 1,500 years and has influenced an enormous amount of the modern world. The Empire had massive territorial capital around the Mediterranean Sea, giving essential resources and transportation to the people and state. At one point the city of Rome was the largest city in the world until 400 AD when the New Rome took the title in 500 AD with 90 million inhabitants. The first two centuries were filled with political stability and expansion but didn’t reach its peak of five million square kilometers until Trajan, which happened after the reign of Domitian, Titus’ brother. The Roman Empire had massive influence on language, art, architecture, philosophy, law, and many other facets of life.
