The calathea is prized for it’s beautiful leaves and the every changing colors and patterns that can appear. Several dozen species allow this plant to have a vast variety yet they are still apart of the Marantaceae family. Like many other plants this one has multiple names that it might be called including zebra, peacock, or rattlesnake plant. The care for this plant is going to be a tad more strenuous than others on this list because it needs to stay moist all the time and needs light but never direct sunlight.

Keeping the plant moist is essential but never too wet or you will drown your plant. Another important part of the care to this plant is to keep the humidity as high as possible. If you want to enjoy this plant and you don’t like in an area with high humidity, try keeping them in your bathroom. It will also highly benefit from a feeding of fertilizer every two weeks in the spring and summer months.
