As the founder of Kingsway International Christian Center in London (the largest Pentecostal church in the UK) Matthew is becoming a powerful man in the religious sector. The church itself has assets worth over $40 million and earns a profit of over $10 million per year.
In early life he was dedicated to Islam, but when his father died he converted to Christianity at the age of 20. The charity behind his church has been investigated significantly finding that there was serious misconduct or mismanagement of the Charity, that he was responsible for approving an alarmingly large amount of payments, and that he received benefits from the Charity including free accommodations for his family and himself, an expensive car and a timeshare in Florida to name a few.
The controversy has not kept him down though as it seems his church continues to grow year after year. Of course, he teaches the Prosperity Theology.
