2. Peru – Takanakuy Festival
One of the most interesting – and painful – ways to celebrate the new year is the Takanakuy Festival held in the small Peruvian village of Chumbivilcas. The festival has individuals fist fight as a way to settle their differences on December 25th. This allows them to start the new year on a clean slate as they have let their frustration or anger out about certain issues.
