2. Moai Statues
Considered to be one of the more iconic tourist attractions in Polynesia, the Moai statues are monolithic human figures carved by the Rapa Nui people. They were discovered on Easter Island and research suggests they were built between 1250 and 1500 A.D. Only the heads of the statues are visible in some areas, while others are fully excavated. It’s suspected that over 900 statutes were crafted and then moved around the islands, a feat in itself due to their size and weight.
